Dental Implants Turkey - Dental Centre Turkey
A Dental Implant is an artificial tooth root made of titanium or other biocompatible material that is surgically placed in the jawbone to support a replacement tooth or Bridge. The Implant integrates with the bone and becomes a stable support for an Implant Crown or Implant Bridge. Dental Implants are a safe, effective and long-lasting solution for missing teeth and can help to preserve the jawbone, preventing the loss of facial structure that can occur with missing teeth.
Are you struggling to cope with your existing dentures, facing the prospect of removable dentures or don't like your gap? If the answer is yes the most natural solution is Dental Implant. High-quality Dental Implants are typically unaffordable for many patients, especially those in the UK, Europe and the USA. The VIP clinics in Antalya, Fethiye offer patients an affordable Implant solution without compromising on the quality of materials. Patients who choose these clinics for their Dental Implant procedure can rest assured that they only offer leading global Implant brands, all of which come with a lifetime guarantee.
A Dental Implant is a small titanium screw that is placed within the jawbone to replace teeth that are already missing or are in need of replacement. Dental Implants are made of titanium as titanium is known to integrate with your natural bone. It is the same material used in knee and hip replacements. Consequently the Implant forms an artificial tooth root that anchors in place a new dental crown. In the case of multiple teeth missing along the same row (three or more teeth) an Implant Bridge can be attached to the Implants. Since the Implant fuses to the jawbone, the end look and feel is completely natural. The word 'Implant' refers directly to the titanium screw, which is implanted into the jawbone; in addition to this there is the Implant Abutment (the small attachment that connects the Implant to the Crown) and then of course the Porcelain Crown itself to complete the treatment. The clinics will always provide you a quote that is all inclusive of all costs related to your treatment, The Implant price includes the cost of the Abutment, ensuring there are no hidden costs following your arrival.
The VIP clinics in Antalya and Fethiye are classed as 'Dental Centres and are fully licensed and regulated by the Turkish Ministry of Health. Dental Centres are held to a higher standard than a standard dental clinic. Many clinics now use the term VIP or Dental Centre but there are no additional services or facilities on site and no registration as a Dental Centre to warrant the use of the term. Legitimate Dental Centres are allowed to provide a much larger range of services and facilities than an ordinary policlinic or boutique clinic. If in doubt, patients should ask for the full registered clinic name. The name will either include the term Poliklinik (which is a standard dental clinic) or dis sagligi merkezi (which is a Dental Centre). Essentially, most dental clinics in Turkey, such as those that describe themselves as boutique clinics or licensed as polikliniks, are relatively small and are not legally able to provide the services that a Dental Centre is licensed to provide. A Dental Centre has the added advantage of a more experienced dental team and superior dental technologies including a full on-site laboratory. The VIP clinics in Antalva and Fethive are equipped with a 3D Tomography machine that allows the Oral Surgeons to plan Dental Implants with great precision and in some cases, where possible with Guided Surgery (also referred to as Implants without surgery). The VIP clinics have a team of fully qualified Oral Surgeons who are qualified and skilled at more complex procedures such as Surgical Extractions. Dental Implants. Sinus Lifting and Bone Grafting. This ensures no Dental Implant is placed by a general Dentist, and no dental surgery is performed by anyone other than a fully qualified Oral Surgeon.
How Many Dental Implants do I need?
Depending on how many teeth you have missing will depend on the number of Implants you will need. Dental Implants can be used to replace any amount of teeth - from a single missing tooth to full mouth restoration. The expert dental team will tailor a treatment plan to suit your personal requirements.
Generally the dentists do not replace every missing tooth with a Dental Implant. If you have NO teeth on your upper and lower jaws they will usually place 6 Implants along the upper jaw and 6 Implants along the lower jaw, 12 in total. These Implants will support a full set of 28 teeth (14 teeth along each jaw).
If you have a gap where 3 or 4 teeth are missing along the same row, 2 Dental Implants (one at each end of the gap) will be placed. These Implants will support a 3 or 4 Tooth Dental Implant Bridge. Alternatively, if you only have one tooth missing, 1 single Dental Implant and Implant Crown will be placed.
Your treatment can be completed in two short visits to Turkey. The first visit is for the placing of your Dental Implants. Following your Implant placement you must wait a minimum of 3 months before your permanent Implant Crowns) can be fitted. This is very important for all patients to ensure your Implants have time to settle and are strong in the jawbone before any weight or force is applied, ensuring the long-term success of your treatment. During visit one a temporary solution can be applied so you will not return home without the appearance and function of teeth. On your return visit to Turkey the Implant Crowns or Dental Implant Bridges will be fitted to the Implants and your treatment will be completed.
Dental Implants and the cost of their placement can command eye-watering prices, often running into the thousands of pounds/ euros or dollars. The clinics in Antalya, Fethiye, Istanbul and Marmaris offer patients seeking Dental Implants an alternative solution. A solution which comes at a lower cost but most importantly does not compromise on the quality of materials used or expertise of the Dentists and Oral Surgeons. Much of this can be attributed to the running costs associated with owning a clinic in Turkey, which is significantly less than that of the running costs of a clinic in your home country. Couple that with the buying power of a group of clinics, that places an increasingly high number of Implants per month, the costs are brought down even further. This cost saving is passed on directly to you.
The clinics in Antalya, Fethiye, Istanbul and Marmaris place Titanium Implants, manufactured from 100% grade 4 or grade 5 Titanium. Titanium is used for Dental Implants, as it is extremely durable, lightweight and very biocompatible, meaning it is not going to wear out and is highly unlikely to be rejected by your body. There are many different types of Titanium that are used for different purposes, building, medical supplies etc. Titanium Grade 4 or Grade 5 is used in the medical field and should be the only type of Titanium used for Dental Implants. Sometimes low cost Implants are not made from Grade 4 or 5 Titanium or they are only plated in Titanium. These clinics give you a guarantee that they only work with premium Dental Implants that manufactured from 100% Titanium and come with a lifetime guarantee.
What if I need Bone Grafting or Sinus Lifting?
Once a natural tooth is extracted, the jawbone density will start to reduce after a period of time. In some cases, the reason for the loss of the tooth initially can be due to a reduction in bone density. In such cases, in order for an effective Implant placement Bone Grafting is required. Along the upper jaw the position of the sinus pockets is of vital importance to ensure a safe Implant placement. If there is insufficient room under the sinus pocket a Sinus Lifting procedure may be advised. In most cases, we carryout Bone Grafting and/or Sinus Lifting alongside the Implant placement.

How many times do I need to visit Turkey for my Implant treatment?
In the case of Dental Implants two visits to Turkey are required to complete the treatment. This ensures that the Implants are strong in the jaw bone to support your new Crowns. The integration between the Implants and the jaw bone sally takes a period of 3 months. In the case that Bone Grafting and/ or Sinus Lifting is required the Oral Surgeon may advise a maximum healing period of 6 months to ensure your Dental Implants are strong in the jaw bone and are ready to support the Implant Crowns/ Implant Bridges, ensuring the long term success of your Implant treatment. Many patients return after the recommended healing time according to their personal plans, some patients return the following year according to their holiday dates. During the healing period, there is usually the option of a temporary solution so you will not return home without the appearance of teeth.
Can I have a Dental Implant after a tooth extraction?
If you have a tooth that needs to be extracted and you plan to replace the missing tooth with a Dental Implant, your tooth can usually be extracted and the Implant can be placed as part of the same procedure. There is not always a need to have the tooth extracted before you visit the clinic. If a tooth is extracted in conjunction with an Implant placement there will not be any additional charges for the tooth extraction. Alternatively, if you have recently had your tooth extracted, you will need to wait 4-6 weeks before your Dental Implant is placed. Once your gum line is in a healing stage the healing process cannot be interrupted to place the Dental Implant but both the extraction and the Implant placement can usually be completed at the same time.
What if I do not have enough bone?
In the case of Dental Implants your bone density and quality is a vital. Approximately 30% of Implant patients do not have sufficient bone available for the placement of Dental Implants without the need for Bone Grafting. If you are unsure about your suitability for Dental Implants, please get in touch with us and we can assist you in arranging a Panoramic X-Ray in your home country before you travel. Alternatively, you can visit the clinic for a full consultation and Panoramic X-Ray, which is free of charge. The Oral Surgeons will assess a number of measurements to determine the best location and angle for the Implant placement. If you do need Bone Grafting, essentially the Implant procedure will be no different for you. The only difference is that the Implant procedure itself will take a little longer as the Oral Surgeon will apply Bone Grafting material in the appropriate areas alongside your Implant placement so if Bone Grafting is required you will still only need to make 2 visits to Turkey to complete your Implant treatment. The healing time advised by the Oral Surgeon maybe longer than 3 months however a temporary solution can usually be provided so you will not return home without the appearance of teeth and can continue daily life as normal until you return for your permanent Implant Crowns. Over time the Bone Grafting material will integrate with your own natural bone and provide support to your Dental Implants. On your new X-Ray or Tomography/ 3D MRI scan you will see the improved bone level compared to your previous scan. The prices are set for Bone Grafting at a minimum and maximum price therefore, if you do not have a Panoramic X-Ray in advance of your visit we can inform you of any potential Bone Grafting costs before you travel so you know potentially how much your entire treatment will cost you before you travel to Turkey.

I have been told I need a Sinus Lift, how does that work?
In the case of Dental Implants in your upper jaw the position of your sinus pockets is very important. If your Sinus Pockets (left, right or both sides) are too low, they will need to be lifted to make space available for the Dental Implants to be placed safely. Approximately 25% of Implant patients do not have sufficient space under their sinus pockets for the Implant placement to take place without the need for Sinus Lifting. If you are planning Implants for your upper jaw and you are unsure about your suitability for Dental Implants with or without the need for Sinus Lifting, please get in touch with us and we can assist you in arranging a Panoramic X-Ray in your home country before you travel. Alternatively, you can visit the clinic for a full consultation and Panoramic X-Ray, which is free of charge. The oral Surgeon will assess a number of measurements to determine the best location and angle for the Implant placements and assess if Sinus Lifting is necessary. If you do need Sinus Lifting, essentially the Implant procedure will be no different for you. The only difference is that the procedure itself will take a little longer as the Oral Surgeon will lift your sinus pocket into the appropriate position alongside your Implant placement. The healing time advised by the Oral Surgeon maybe longer than 3 months however a temporary solution can usually be provided so you will not return home without the appearance of teeth and can continue daily life as normal until you return for your permanent Implant Crowns. The prices are set for Sinus Lifting therefore, if you do not have a Panoramic X-Ray in advance of your visit we can inform you of any potential Sinus Lifting costs before you travel so you know potentially how much your entire treatment will cost you before you travel to Turkey. Many patients also report an increased sense of smell and can breathe easier which is a positive side effect to a Sinus Lifting procedure although essentially the procedure is carried out to ensure there is no risk to the sinus pocket or patient during the Implant placement.

What about my Guarantee?
Many patients choosing to travel abroad for dental treatment often overlook the dental guarantee. Equally, many clinics do not show the terms and conditions of the guarantee they are offering. Globally, it is not a legal requirement for a dental clinic to provide any form of guarantee. As this is so it is something that should be asked before booking your treatment, as many dental clinics do not offer any form of guarantee. A simple note stating a treatment comes with a 2-year or 5-year guarantee explains little or nothing in terms of what is actually covered. Dental Centre Turkey prides itself on ensuring patients are provided by the local clinic, with a transparent dental guarantee showing the full details of the guarantee terms and conditions, which are written in a language that is easy to understand.
Why should I have my Dental Implants in Turkey?
Many Implant patients consider travelling abroad for their Dental Implants due to the cost savings but the skills and expertise should also not be ignored. All of the clinic's Dental Implants are placed by a fully qualified Oral Surgeon. In many UK and European dental clinics Implants are placed by a general dentist and not an Oral Surgeon. Your local Dentist may have experience of placing Dental Implants but in most cases this experience is limited and only a few Implants are placed each month. The VIP clinics in Antalya & Fethiye have made huge investments in the acquisition of specialised Implant technology to ensure accurate pre-planning of Implant placement, bone density measurements and lower invasive methods for Bone Grafting and Sinus Lifting procedures (if required). They place on average over 500 Dental Implants every month with a 99.9% success rate.
What happens on my second visit?
The process for the Implant placement and subsequent Crown is carried out as follows:
On the first visit the Implants will be placed and the gum will grow over the top of the Implant within in a short space of time (usually 5 - 14 days). When you return for the second visit the Oral Surgeon will gain access to the Implants by either opening the gum line surgically or with a laser, which option is most suitable will depend on the thickness of the gum. A healing cap will then be placed over the Implant so the gum line settles to the correct shape in preparation for the Implant Abutment and Crown which usually takes a few days. Once the new Crown is fabricated the healing cap is then removed, the Abutment is fitted to the Implant and subsequently the Crown is fitted to the Abutment.
Will the procedure hurt?
In all cases, Implant treatment is effected with local anaesthetic, which numbs the area so that you will not feel the Implant placement. Following your Implant placement, the clinic will provide a prescription for both antibiotics and pain killers. In terms of pain relief, most patients take pain relief medication for 24-48 hours following their procedure after which time they feel it is no longer required. Some patients do not feel it necessary to take any pain medication.
